As the 3^rd generation owner of Woemmel Plastering Co, Connie learned how to manage the business from Rich and Dee Woemmel.  She furthered her knowledge by completing in the first “Women in Business” program offered in St. Louis.  In 2012, she was qualified as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) through certifications from the State of Missouri and the City of St. Louis.

From Connie: I raised 5 kids and they made me a grandma of 10. I absolutely love hanging out with my grandkids. They are the best and I’m so proud of them all. When I’m not with the grandkids, I enjoy traveling, going for bike rides down the Katy Trail and looking at beautiful architecture throughout St. Louis. I can find myself lost in the grandeur of the buildings inside and out.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?
Fire starter, pan & machete.

If you could be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose and why?
Say Yes to the Dress. It’s a happy occasion and would be fun to work with the brides, plus I love fashion.

Mark is Woemmel Plastering’s 3^rd generation plasterer. He began learning the trade at age 6 from his father, Rich Woemmel. In his teens, he was working side by side with his father perfecting his skills. Once his father was satisfied with Mark’s craftsmanship, it was time for his mom (Dee Woemmel) and his dad to turn the family legacy over to Mark and his wife, Connie. Under the guidance of Dee and Rich, they were able to build upon that legacy and continue as the best plastering company in St. Louis. Today, you will find him estimating and overseeing residential projects.

From Mark: I like to bring my older grandkids down to the shop.  I teach them hands on about our family trade. I take great pride in seeing them pick up a trowel just like my father and grandfather showed me when I was young. We have a pretty busy schedule with our last 2 kids finishing college. I enjoy supporting my grandkids at their sports, recitals, and school events. If I do get a little down time, I like to sit back and relax with my dog Snickers. We happily sit in silence watching Judge Judy and NASCAR.

Guy was just out of high school when he picked up a trowel. He trained in the art of plastering by Woemmel Plastering’s 2^nd generation, Rich Woemmel. He carefully developed his skills and they have taken him all over the state and country working on restoring churches and installing new residential exterior systems. He can attribute most of his experience to repairing plaster in 1000s of homes across Metro St. Louis. Over the years, Guy has honed his skills in ornamental and decorative plastering. He is sought after to work in high-end homes to add luxurious touches. His work is truly exceptional.

From Guy: My favorite pastime is spending time with my family. We like to vacation together, I hunt and fish with my boys and we all watch my daughter play collegiate volleyball. I enjoy building unforgettable memories with them all.

Who was your childhood actor/actress crush?
Jane Seymour

Steve comes from a long line of plasterers originating in Germany hundreds of years ago. He has over 35 years of experience from basic plaster repairs to commercial exterior buildings. Although, his favorite type of work is ornamental and decorative mouldings. His work can be seen in places like the Fox Theatre and the Sun Theatre. Steve is now our Estimator and Superintendent that occasionally works in the field on big ornamental restoration jobs. To keep his skills fresh, he bought a full plaster 1860s Victorian home to restore to its former glory.

From Steve: I enjoy riding my Harley, and going to the dog park with my girl Cleo. I am a first time Grandpa enjoying every minute I can with my beautiful granddaughter. I am always finding a restoration project to do in my historic home.

What is your favorite meal to cook and why? BBQ ribs because everyone loves them.

What was your favorite TV show growing up? As a kid, Speed Racer and as a teen, Gilligan’s Island (Mary Ann)

A few years out of high school Jack started plastering. His good friend plastered for his father’s company in Lake of the Ozark. Impressed by his friend’s accomplishments, Jack started learning the trade working at the same company.  He caught on quickly becoming especially skillful installing EIFS (Exterior Insulated Finish Systems) on lake homes. Ten years later, he came up to St. Louis where he met Connie & Mark Woemmel. He was hired and began learning interior plastering. He became a master at matching wall and ceiling textures in older homes. His impressive trowel work can mimic the hands of plasterer’s from over 100 years ago.

From Jack: You can usually find me cooking up some awesome BBQ, boating out on the river or playing in a dart league. I have twin boys in college where one plays baseball. My wife and I enjoy cheering him on at his games.

After Brant graduated high school in 2003, he wanted to learn about the plaster trade. Mark Woemmel took him on even though he was simply looking for summer job.  He enjoyed the work so much that summer, he applied and was accepted in the plasterer’s apprenticeship program. His work is skillful and quite remarkable.

From Brant: I enjoy being an outdoorsman. My son and I spend a lot of time hunting, fishing, boating and camping. I also enjoy welding and fabricating my own ATVs for advanced trail riding. When I am not working or enjoying the outdoors, I take on new rehab projects in my home.

If you could make a rule for a day and everyone had to follow it, what would it be? No Social Media

Tony is a veteran of the US Navy. After his enlistment, he served in the US Naval Reserves for several years while building his career with Woemmel Plastering. At first, he set up and broke down jobs, and assisted plasterers on site. Within a couple years, he completed his apprenticeship program graduating to a Plaster Tender. We lean on him for plaster preparation, scaffold building, job safety, and keeping our machinery serviced and ready for the next project. 

From Tony: I wrestled in high school, and on a collegiate level. When I was in the Navy, I wrestled Greco-Roman style. Since then, my wife and I stay very busy with 4 boys all under the age of 10. They are a rowdy bunch that loves to be outside with me every chance they get. We mostly fish and camp. As they get older, I hope they take an interest in wrestling like their dad.

If you could eliminate one thing from your daily routine, what would it be and why? Definitely shaving because it takes too long to do every morning.
